1. What is "Friends of FashionWindows?"
Short answer - our pals, our chums, our loyal readers who have supported us
since we established the website in 1997.
2. Why should I join Friends of FashionWindows?
For the many years, FashionWindows was a free service.
Unfortunately, some unscrupulous people were spamming the internet with the postcards
section and abusing the Classifieds and Forum areas.
We worked very hard to keep this to a minimum impact on our readers.
But the abuse alone was using several gigabytes of data transfer a day. That
equated to a lot of money required to keep the premium services open to the
public.
2. You can offer memberships without charging any fees. Can you do it that way?
That was actually our first plan, but after a few months, we
realized that the spammers and abusers were just applying for multiple memberships, and continued
abusing the system. That defeated the purpose of setting up a membership service.
3. How much does it cost?
US $4.95 per month.
We settled on this because it was the lowest we could charge and not lose money running a membership service. The
exact amount needed is US $4.93 per member, but one of our processors requested we use US $4.95. So, we are putting the extra
two cents into the salary of the customer service people.
The membership fee only covers the cost of the service. Which means we don't use our members money to buy private planes and mansions.
