In 1996, Tom Massey and Mari Davis wanted to do an internet project that they can pour their talent into and have creative freedom to boot. Mari Davis was working for a specialized high-end retail store during that time and noticed that there were no websites dedicated to visual merchandising. She asked Tom to help her create the website by writing the server-side scripts and she would write the client-side programming.

Boyd Davis at that time was getting ready to retire from the U.S. Navy. Like most veterans, he was unsure what he wanted to do after leaving the military. Tom Massey and Mari Davis asked him to join them and use his organizational skills to create Fashion Windows.

In 1997, Fashion Windows was launched. The name Fashion Windows came from the visual merchandising term for store windows that are dedicated in displaying the latest fashion. Adding fashion designers and fashion items was a logical step to take since the visual merchandising and fashion go hand-in-hand. Adding mannequins to the list was also a logical step since mannequins are one of the standard items when displaying clothes.

During its first year of operations, the readers response to Fashion Windows was phenomenal. All three founders were pleasantly surprised when their readers started sending them photos and articles to be printed. There were no visual merchandising sites on the web that cater to the needs of visual merchandisers.

Another pleasant surprise was although Fashion Windows was launched as a trade e-zine, fashionistas also flocked to the site. Store windows were familiar to them. It was like window shopping via the web.

Tom Massey is a Founder of FashionWindows and is also the President. Since he was 11 years old, writing code has been part of his life, creating his first video game while still a child. Today, he writes code in several computer languages and still consider himself a "programmer" instead of the politically correct term "software developer."

Boyd Davis
Founder and Chief Financial Officer

Boyd Davis is a Founder of FashionWindows and is also the Chief Financial Officer. After his stint in the U.S. Navy where his specialty was Communications, he put his organizational talent to FashionWindows.

Mari Davis
Founder and Creative Director

Mari Davis is a Founder of Fashionwindows and also the Creative Director. FashionWindows is her brainchild, creating it from her collection of store windows photos.
