Alon Livne Fall 2014 (18)Once again, Alon Livné lived up to the high expectations of his fans. For Fall 2014, Alexander McQueen and Roberto Cavalli alumnus took a century step back to take a millennial step forward with his collection inspired by Melford’s epic silent film, “The Sheik,” a silent film which was originally released in 1921.

Evoking the feeling of early imperialism in Morocco, when the privileged of the world – and their beautiful daughters — journeyed across the sea, armed with trousseaus, on an oceanic pursuit of culture and romance, Alon Livné took elements from that era and then re-imagined them for the 21st century.

Taking the dimension back to the garment, Livné used art- nouveau and organic-shell-like shapes as the basis for his silhouettes. Adding elaborate hand embroidery and intricate beading, the resulting look is sumptuous with an old world charm.
