LA Lakers' Kobe Bryant launches the KOBETWO collection in Europe at celebrity gala function
Aug 21, 2001/ FW/ --- Kobe Bryant, of the LA Lakers, has launched KOBETWO, the innovative new
clothing, footwear and accessories range for adidas at Newton's bar, in Berlin.
Raised in Italy, 22-year old Kobe joined the NBA straight from high school and rose to fame as shooting
guard for the two-time NBA championship-winning Lakers.
adidas launched the original KOBE shoe with Kobe Bryant last year in collaboration with the Audi TT design
team. KOBETWO builds upon this success, with a range including headgear, bags, a hooded lambskin leather
jacket and lambskin 3-Stripe tear-away trousers. All items are sports-inspired, but some have been designed
exclusively as leisure wear.
The revolutionary KOBETWO shoe is made from 32 moulded pieces instead of the usual four. A team of adidas
designers from Norway, New York and LA worked to create the shoe from the outside in, rather than the
traditional inside-out construction. The result is cutting-edge sports footwear with a streetwise,
futuristic appearance.
A limited number of 1000 KOBETWO leather jackets and trousers will be made available to the public as of
1 November 2001.
