Armani's 'Tuxedo' Does Kung Fu
Movie Review: The Tuxedo
DALLAS, Aug 16, 2003/ FW/ --- I have to admit, if Giorgio Armani did not design the tuxedo
used in this movie, I would have not watched it. All the reviews I have read did not paint
a pretty picture (pun intended).
And the movie critics who saw this before me were right! The only highlight of the movie for
me were the clothes designed by Giorgio Armani - 2 outfits for Jackie Chan and one for
Jennifer Love-Hewitt.
Jackie Chan plays a New York cab driver hired to be a chauffer for super secret agent Jason Issacs.
Due to an accident, Jackie Chan inherited his boss' 'tuxedo' which turns its wearer into a
martial arts expert.
How 'the tuxedo' does it is interesting enough. Think of 'The Matrix' but instead of virtual reality,
it is the real world! With microscopic pins, the tuxedo injects something in the wearer's body and
gives him an upgrade. Call it 'Jackie Chan 2.0' if you want.
As unbelievable as the premise is, the movie still goes downhill from there. And it is not because
of Jackie Chan's nor Jennifer Love-Hewitt's acting either. Both actors did a fine job and gave the
audience a barrelful of laughs.
Blame it on the bad storyline!
For me, the best were the tuxedo and suit worn by Jackie Chan and the suit worn by Jennifer Love-Hewitt.
Giorgio Armani is really a master! With all the action and kung fu moves, the clothes actually did very
well.
Short of this movie review sounding like a fashion review,
The Tuxedo
is a homage to Armani's fine tailoring.
Unfortunately, it can't be said that the movie is a homage to Jackie Chan's talents nor Jennifer Love-Hewitts.
These two actors had done better.
