LONDON, Sep 9, 2001/ --- Burberry has designed a special edition
scarf in support of Fashion Targets Breast Cancer, a charitable initiative of
the CFDA Foundation Inc.
The scarf, a wool muffler, translates Burberry's
signature stripe in shades of pink and ivory. 30% of the retail sales of the
scarf will be donated to breast cancer charities throughout the United States.
To promote the scarf, ads, in-store signage and hangtags have been created
featuring a colorized black-and-white photograph by Mario Testino of Kate Moss
wearing the scarf. Ads will run in the October issues of key fashion
publications.
The scarf will be sold exclusively in all Burberry stores in the United
States, all Saks Fifth Avenue stores nationwide during October, which is
Breast Cancer Awareness Month. In a similar endeavor in the United Kingdom,
Burberry will be selling the scarf in their London flagship with 30% of retail
sales donated to Breakthrough Breast Cancer.
Burberry, the original British luxury brand, was founded in 1856. With
headquarters in London and New York, the Company currently has 59 directly
operated stores worldwide.
