Sep 22, 2001/ FWD/ --- Ever since he showed his spring 2001 collection in Los Angeles and boldly proclaimed
the City of Angels to be the style mecca of America, the fashion world has suspected that Jeremy Scott might
soon trade in the glamour of Paris for the glitz of L.A.
And now, in the wake of America's tragic events last week, the Missouri-born bad-boy of design is showing his
patriotism by pulling out of Paris fashion week - after showing there for six years - to come back to the
States. "I just thought it was time to go home. Time to support my own country," he has stated.
His plans entail moving his operation (a team of five) to Los Angeles by December and hopefully showing next
February in New York, consequently counterbalancing Austrian-born Helmet Lang's recent defection from New York
back to Paris.
"LA is the best place on earth," he claimed. "Hollywood has always dictated fashion. It's a megaphone to the
world - having a celebrity wear your clothes to the Oscars is better publicity than any show or advert."
Unfortunately, Scott's desire to dress stars like Cameron Diaz and Reese Witherspoon in his over-the-top,
show-stopping creations might be dampened due to recent talks of toning down the black tie dress requisites
for award shows, specifically for the impending Emmys.
