  • Cell Phone With a Digital Camera and Bluetooth

  • Sprint's man in black has made the cell phone with a camera a must have.

To say that it is cool is an undertatement. And during the shows, this gizmo can be worth its weight in gold.

There are always sidebar stories in a show, be it a celebrity or PETA doing their thing. The pit might be full of photographers, and not paying attention to the sidelines.

A quick fashion journo knows a story when its happening. The cell phone can take a snapshot!

And if the cell phone is the Nokia's 3650 (photo at left) enhanced with Bluetooth, the user can send photos and videos wirelessly to their computers, printers, PDAs and other cell phones.

The only drawback - the resolution is not that high. But with the magic of Photoshop, the digital image can be enhanced.

  • Pocket PC or PDA

  • Fashion editors always carry their laptops, but even the lightest ones get heavy during the 10 hours spent at the shows. It also gets cumbersome when watching the shows if you have a laptop open.

Hence PDAs and Pocket PCs are becoming more popular each season. Laptops are left in the hotel or press room, and editors just bring their PDAs to attend the shows.

My favorite is the Dell Axim™ X5, the perfect companion for the busy fashionista on the go. Measuring only 128 mm (5.04 inches) in length, 81.5 mm (3.21 inches) width, and 18 mm (0.71 inches) height, and weighing 196 grams (6.9 oz), it can fit in your Fendi baguette.

And the best thing abot the Dell Axim X5, it has address book and calendar, so you have your contact list with you and the show schedule at your fingertips.

It's a PDA, so you can use the stylus to take notes. Or if you type faster than you write, a folding keyboard can be attached to it.

The Dell Axim™ X5 also has a built in microphone and digital voice recorder. It's great for getting quotes during those backstage interviews.

With these three gizmos, you're ready to tackle the fashion season. And if you have noticed that the 'laptop' was not mentioned, it is because a laptop is a necessity. Almost everyone carries a laptop in this wireless and high-tech world of ours.
