Three's A Charm: New York Fashion Week Hits The Airwaves
Style Network, Metro TV and FWTV bring New York Fashion Week In Your Living Room
New York Fashion Week Spring 2004

NEW YORK, Sep 3, 2003/ FW/ --- It's getting crowded at the photographers pit! FWTV, a new cable channel in the ever-growing 24-7 fashion coverage niche has been added to the roster of TV networks covering New York Fashion Week.

For the past two season's E! Networks' Style and New York's Metro TV have been bringing the shows at Bryant Park nationwide.

But while these two networks have the average fashionista in mind in their programming, Fashion Week TV (FWTV) is targeting the industry - retail buyers and fashion editors, as their market.

Last week, the fledging TV network has signed exclusive contracts with major hotels in Manhattan the rights to open their cable channel for the hotel guests for the duration of New York Fashion Week.

W Hotels, the official hotel of NYFW is among the list of the first to sign up. Ian The Four Seasons, Soho Grand, Tribeca Grand, Bryant Park Hotel and Flatotel are also on the list.

With Style Network's complete coverage and Metro Channel's "Full Frontal Fashion," the question of 'what will FWTV bring on the table which is new?'

According to FWTV, the station is not competing with Style Network nor Metro TV, because its target market is the industry and not the average fashionista.

And on a new take for fashion, FWTV is producing "Real World: Fashion Week," where a "confessional box" will be set up at Bryant Park Hotel and showgoers can discuss their impressions for the day in the privacy of the booth.

Of course, the "confession" becomes public knowledge when it airs later during the day, or the next day.

FWTV has a lot of great ideas, but the station also has to face the fact that competition for a niche audience is also getting stiff. Both Style Network and Metro TV are syndicated nationwide. FWTV will only be seen in Manhattan.

Everyone has to start somewhere, and starting where the heart of the action is as good as it gets.
