Home Phones Aren't Dead: Despite Prevalence of Cellular Phones, Survey Shows Americans Still Value Their Home Phone
LOS ANGELES, Aug 20, 2003/ FW/ --- When you're at home, which phone do you find yourself using,
your cell or your home phone? The answer might surprise you.
It seems everywhere you go nowadays, you see people on their cell phones.
But a new survey by International
Communications Research, finds that their home phone gives them the most
meaningful form of communication when reaching out to their loved ones.
Al Silverberg, President of Uniden, agrees that it makes perfect sense that those
surveyed prefer to use their home phone rather than their cell when calling
friends and family.
According to All Silverberg, "Today most people are able to communicate in so many
different ways, and yet sales of our cordless phones show that most people still
rely on their home phone."
In fact, according to the survey nearly 70 percent say
their home phone gives them the most meaningful and secure form of communication
with their loved ones - more than cell phones, e-mail and messaging devices.
Why do people favor their home phones?
The survey found convenience
and privacy are at the top of the list, especially for women, while men feel
dependability is the most important aspect of their home phone.
