Revlon's Fresh New Face
Caroline Ribeiro Inks Seven Figure Contract With Cosmetics Giant
July 27, 2001/ -- Look out, Gisele: fellow Brazilian catwalker Caroline Ribeiro has just inked a seven
figure contract with cosmetics giant Revlon.
The 5-foot-11, brunette bombshell will be joining the ranks of model Rhea Durham, who signed on only
four months ago; South African model Nicola Breytenbach; and actress Halle Berry. She is the latest addition
at Revlon, who said they wanted to focus on a younger market after Cindy Crawford retired in February.
Ribeiro's agent, Greg Christenson at Marilyn Models, says: "Caroline couldn't be happier and more enthusiastic
about representing Revlon and getting her first exclusive cosmetics contract."
Ribeiro, known for her provocative Gucci ads, has already shot some of the campaign, which will include cosmetics,
body care and hair.
"Revlon hired her for her international appeal, her youth, beauty, elegance and definitely for her
gracefulness," says Christenson.
Ribeiro stands out, he insists, and should not be categorized as a traditional Brazilian model, even though
she is one of the leaders of last year's "Brazilian buzz," along with the likes of Gisele Bundchen, Ana
Claudia Michels and Fernanda Tavares.
"She reads to so many customers. She is Latin, she has a touch of an Asian feel, she has an incredibly
immaculate career. She is Tom Ford's favorite girl."
The 21-year-old bronzed beauty will also star in the spring 2002 campaigns for Valentino, shot by Steven
Meisel in Beverly Hills, and Oscar de la Renta, shot by Michael Thompson.
