Stella McCartney Ties The Knot
UK Papers Report Fashion Designer Stella McCartney Weds Publisher Alasdhair Willis
Sep 2, 2003/ FW/ --- While the U.S. was celebrating its last day of summer, fashion designer
and rock royalty Stella McCartney was tying the knot with longtime boyfriend, Wallpaper publisher Alasdhair Willis.
Though the wedding is shrouded in secrecy as reported by Reuters, UK papers have confirmed that
the 31-year old daughter of former Beatle Paul McCartney got married at the Isle of Bute,
Scotland during the U.S. Labor Day weekend.
Security was so tight that UK photographers had to settle for taking photos of the security
team and two other photographers who claimed that they took photos of the
wedding.
The London Telegraph reported that the the main venue for the wedding was the Mount Stuart
House, the Victorian family home of the sevent Marquess of Bute, the former racing
driver Johnny Dumfries.
The house has a large private chapel, and it is believed that McCartney and Willis
married there.
"Forty security guards hired for the event were posted at every road, footpath and gate leading into the
grounds of the Mount Stuart, which has been closed to the public for several days," says
the Telegraph.
The guests who were ferried by Land Rovers from their hotel to the Mount Stuart House,
looked like an entertainment and fashion industries Who's Who.
Madonna, fresh from her performance at MTV Music Awards arrived with her husband,
director Guy Ritchie and their two children.
Tom Ford, Stella's boss and designer for Gucci and YSL was also in attendance.
Model Kate Moss, actress Gwyneth Paltrow, her boyfried Chris Martin, who was also
at the MTV Music Awards in New York with his band Coldplay, singer Chrissie Hynde,
Liv Tyler, star of the 'Lord of the Rings' trilogy and another rock royalty kid
were all in the Isle of Bute.
Sir Paul McCartney and his wife Heather Mills arrived on the island just in time for
the wedding. The McCartney's who were also in New York two days before went stright to
Scotland after landing in London.
Stella and Alasdhair were rumored to have gotten married last January in Ireland. But
this report look like it is the real thing.
The newlyweds, if they really are married now, met in a fashion party in 2001 and has been
inseperable ever since, except of course when their careers dictate that they be apart.
