NEW YORK, Oct 18, 2002/ --- With two New York Times bestsellers under her belt, Bobbi Brown is back in bookstores
this week with her third title, "Bobbi Brown Beauty Evolution: The Ultimate Guide To a Lifetime of Beauty."
Dedicated to her mother Sandra, this latest installment in Brown's growing oeuvre focuses
on beauty across all generations.
Chapters cover "Your Twenties" all the way to "Your Seventies ... and Beyond."
One profiles Dr. Lucia Servadio Bedarida, who touts almond oil ("the one you buy for cooking")
as one of her best-kept skincare secrets and, at 101, believes she's more beautiful now
than ever.
Brown, 45-years-old - and not afraid to admit it, also recounts her own beauty evolution
in this perhaps most personal of her books, and tells of some angst-ridden early days
in the business, "surrounded by models and mirrors."
Chapter one cuts right to the chase though, pitting beauty illusion vs. beauty reality, and
going behind the scenes with "the magicians of the photo shoot."
"So much of what we see in the media makes us feel bad about ourselves - because we don't
have the perfect body, skin, hair or whatever," Brown says in her introduction.
But this veteran makeup artist believes that every woman can shine, with the right attitude -
and, of course, a few makeup tips and tricks.
That's why most of the 300-plus photographs that were commissioned for "Beauty Evolution"
(many of them shot by top fashion snapper Walter Chin) portray not models, but real women
in every age and stage of life.
A selection of these images - in larger-than-life format - will be on view at select
Neiman Marcus stores in an exhibit that will travel around the country from October 29 to
February 9.
