To celebrate the launch of this new limited edition product, Impulse hired Rankin, one of the UK's most renowned fashion photographers.

For the advertising campaign which launched yesterday, Rankin has recreated his unique body shimmer technique that he used in his famous shot of supermodel Gisele, to create a new press and poster campaign.

Though the 'shimmery' look is easy to achieve in life, reproducing it on a photograph was a complex process.

Extensive hair and make up tests were conducted two days before the shoot to guarantee optimum effect.

The day of the shoot, it took 3 hours to cover the naked model's body with a thick coat of silver body paint, followed by Vaseline and then a final coat of black and silver glitter.

Intense photographic lights were then used to create a surreal sparkling effect.

The result - a visually iconic image of a naked model which looks more like a computer generated picture than a photograph.

The ad campaign will run for three months, while the product, Impulse Sparkling Body Shimmer will be available from April to December 2003 in retail stores.
