NEW YORK, Nov 26, 2002/ --- British perfumer Jo Malone has stepped out into the spotlight of
late with recent launches that include a skincare line, a new wild fig and cassis fragrance,
and a customized scent-mixing technique called Fragrance Combing.
And last night Malone hosted an intimate soiree for Marie Claire's Editor in Chief, Lesley
Jane Seymour, in honor of her progression from beauty editor to captain of the
number-one-selling fashion magazine.
Guests gathered at Malone's sweet-smelling Flatiron store for champagne, nibbles and a
little shopping.
"I think in the last two years we have lifted the best of the magazine and made it cleaner
and more fun," a sexy yet understated Louis Vuitton-clad Seymour said to FWD of the
magazine's continuing rise.
"What made a real difference was September 11th. People became much more aware of the
society around them, which is what Marie Claire has been covering since its inception,"
she added.
Marie Claire publisher Katherine Rizzuto was there to pay tribute at the party,
lauding the wonderful and weighty crystal flutes Malone broke out for the occasion, as were
a chatty Leonard Lauder, the Sykes sisters, Lucy Sykes' husband Euan Rellie, and fashion
editor Kate Dimmock, who all came in on their way to the Victoria's Secret show.
