Makeup Great Kevyn Aucoin Dies at 40

NEW YORK, May 8, 2002/ --- Kevyn Aucoin passed away yesterday morning from complications of a metabolic disorder at
Westchester Medical Center in New York. This past year, Aucoin was diagnosed and treated
for a pituitary brain tumor. He was 40.
The famed makeup artist was known for his powers of transformation, and a philosophy that
focused on bringing out an innermost beauty.
He published three books: The Art of Makeup, Making Faces, and, most recently, Face Forward.
Aucoin is survived by his spouse/partner Jeremy Antunes; his mother and father Thelma and
Isidore Aucoin; his brother Keith; his sisters Carla and Kim; his nieces Samantha, Katarina,
Tatjana, Falon and Leah; his nephew Ian; and his dear friend Eric Sakas.
"To know Kevyn was to love him," reads an obituary released by his spokespeople. "And he was
sincerely loved by all.
"We grieve the loss of not only a great artist, but a great man."
