Lanvin's Classic Arpege Reborn
PARIS, Oct 3, 2002/ -- Though enjoying recent success with its Oxygene perfumes for men and women, the house of Lanvin is still best known for one scent: Arpege.
Arpege, which first appeared in 1927, turns 75 this year. Starting at the end of November, it will be joined by a younger sister named Eclat d'Arpege.
Featuring an innovative stopper with brass rings designed by Lanvin designer Alber Elbaz, and a flacon harking back to the 1927 original with its "emblematic" image of a mother and child, Eclat D'Arpege was formulated by "nose" Karine Dubreuil and Lena Pierotti, Lanvin's International Development Manager of Perfumes. Pierotti describes the result as "a perfume for women made by women."
With a musky base and top notes of lilac and Sicilian lemon, Eclat d'Arpege is scheduled for a full European launch in spring 2003. According to Pierrick Guegan, Lanvin's International Commercial Director of Perfumes, a U.S. launch is tentatively scheduled for the second half of 2004, by which time proper distribution channels will have been developed. Lanvin intends to launch Oxygene for men stateside before Eclat d'Arpege makes its debut. Once U.S. distribution has been implemented, Guegan told FWD that he would expect Eclat d'Arpege to make up "between 20 to 25 percent of total perfume sales at Lanvin."
