Adidas and Kobe Bryant Part Ways

LOS ANGELES, Jul 16, 2002/ FW/ --- NBA star Kobe Bryant will be wearing a variety of footwear on the court next season. Adidas and the Los Angeles All-Star player has agreed not to exercise a two-year extenstion to their sponsorship agreement.

"I am thankful for the company's support over the last six years," said Bryant in the joint statement. "I have enjoyed my experience with adidas and wish them all the best as they continue to build their basketball business."

The 23-year-old athlete, who still has endorsement deals with McDonald's and Coca-Cola's Sprite, said he will play in a variety of footwear brands next season while he mulls over other opportunities.

The Adidas stable still includes Anna Kournikova, David Beckham, Martina Hingis and Zinedine Zidane.
