Val & Gwynnie Drop Anchor in Venice

PARIS, Aug 29, 2002/ --- Valentino loves his blond bombshells. Especially when they're
Gwyneth Paltrow.
The pouting thespian, who recently offended the entire British nation -- at least the part
with Y chromosomes -- has been taking it easy with the perma-tanned Italian couturier by
jaunting around the Adriatic on Valentino's TM Blue One yacht.
Next port of call? Why, the 59th Annual Venice Film Festival, of course.
Tomorrow Valentino will be accompanied by Paltrow (undoubtedly wearing one of the designer's
slinky numbers) at the opening of the festival, which will be marked by the hotly anticipated
premiere of the film "Frida" based on the life of Mexican artist Frida Kahlo and starring
Salma Hayek.
Hayek nabbed the part from Madonna and Jennifer Lopez who were both eager to portray the
painter on the silver screen.
On Saturday Valentino will be hosting a dinner on board his yacht in honor of actor
Tom Hanks who's premiering in British director Sam Mendes' new movie "Road To Perdition."
Luckily for Mendes, he's involved with actress Kate Winslet -- the two have just bought a
quaint old stone cottage in England -- otherwise he may have to endure the wrath of Paltrow,
who recently has not been holding back about her disdain for British men.
Complaining that she was only asked out twice during a recent lengthy sojourn in London the
actress' comments have provoked a rather overwhelming backlash in the British press over the
last week including double page spreads in the Daily Mail, angry letters and angrier street
surveys.
Maybe for the moment Paltrow would be advised to skip stopping off in old Blighty on the way
back to the US.
Whatever about not getting asked out before, no patriotic British heterosexual male will want
to step out with her now, not after she kicked them where it hurts most -- in the ego.
