New Managing Director at Jacques Fath
By: Karl Treacy
PARIS, Sep 5, 2002/ --- Jacques Fath, currently in the midst of a revival, has appointed
Celine Toledano as Managing Director, effective today.
The French fashion house, which saw its heyday in the '40s and '50s, was acquired in
January by France Luxury Group, whose CEO is Mounir Moufarrige, former chief of Chloe
and Montblanc.
30-year-old British-born designer Lizzy Disney showed her first collection for Jacques
Fath in March.
Toledano, who will work closely with Disney, is coincidentally the ex-wife of Ralph Toledano,
who replaced Moufarrige as president of Chloe.
Toledano, 39, cut her teeth in fashion at Karl Lagerfeld, where she was pret-a-porter
director and Lagerfeld's right-hand woman for 10 years, starting in 1983.
From 1995 to 1996, she directed pret-a-porter and coordinated production at Martine Sitbon.
At Celine, from 1996 to 1998, she directed the ready-to-wear collections, accessories and
licenses, and from 1998 to 2002, held the same responsibilities at Nina Ricci, where she
was also in charge of marketing for these lines.
A spokesperson for Jacques Fath declined to discuss the house's immediate plans for
growth and development, but told FWD that Fath hoped to start advertising "around
next March -- but there are lots of different criteria to consider, of course."
Lizzy Disney will present her second collection for Jacques Fath in Paris on Tuesday
October 8 at 4:30pm.
