Pierre Cardin Career Retrospective Fashion Show At the MAGIC Marketplace in Las Vegas

LAS VEGAS, Feb 16, 2002/ --- First it was Yves Saint Laurent who announced his retirement.
Now, Pierre Cardin, world renowned designer has announced that he will be holding his
last show at least in the United States at the MAGIC Marketplace in Las Vegas on
February 20.
Scheduled at 7:00 PM at the Hard Rock Hotel and Casino, the 45 minute fashion show
will feature highlights from Mr. Cardin's news-making collections and will preview
his haute couture collection in five years.
"I wanted to showcase my work at MAGIC because it is the most prestigious
international forum for the fashion industry in the United States," notes Mr.
Cardin.
He continued "I want the young people working in the industry today
to be familiar with my work and my continued inspiration. I felt that this
was the most appropriate venue to reach the fashion community."
The 79-year old Cardin is one of the most prolific fashion designers for the past
50 years. Known for grandiosity - the designer once boasted, "It's me who invented the
first style for men's design - I created it" - Cardin debuted his first men's ready-to-wear
collection in 1960.
In 1993, he was the first designer to be inducted into France's Académie des Beaux Arts.
"Pierre Cardin is one of the preeminent visionaries in the fashion
industry. We are honored that he selected our show as the venue for such a
fabulous event," comments Laura McConnell, General Manager, MAGIC

The MAGIC Marketplace will take place February 19-22, 2002 in Las Vegas.
