Polo Jeans Co. Launches 'Red, White, & New'

NEW YORK, Mar 12, 2002/ FW/ --- Polo Ralph Lauren Corp. has a new charity project and it's
called "Red, White & New."
Based on the concept of recycling, beginning March 2002, the Polo Ralph Lauren
Foundation will visit 20 major college campuses in the U.S. to encourage college
students to trade in their old jeans in exchange for a discount code towards
the purchase of a new a pair of Polo Jeans from macys.com.
The old jeans that are collected at
each location will then be turned over to Swift Denim for recycling.
In exchange for the denim, Swift and Polo Jeans Co. will make a financial donation to the
Polo Ralph Lauren Foundation based on the number of pairs of jeans collected.
Ross Klein, Senior VP of Corporate Marketing for Polo Jeans Co. explains, "Red,
White, & New is our way of thanking our college consumer and at the same
time giving back to the community. The interactive element allows the individual
student to make a difference and be rewarded for their charitable act."
In addition to recycling denim, participants will be invited to spin the
"Denim Dial" for the chance to win free Polo Jeans Co. wardrobes, music cds,
Polo fragrances, magazine subscriptions, and other fabulous prizes.
YM magazine's website, YM.com will feature a customized microsite of the Polo
Jeans Campus, which will be comprised of a virtual university campus that
follows all of the excitement of "Red, White, and New."
