Louis Féraud Suspends Luxury Ready-To-Wear Line
By Timothy Hagy
PARIS, Mar 31, 2003/ FW/ --- The Parisian label Louis Féraud has announced its intention
to suspend the luxury Ready-To-Wear line in order to concentrate on the regular lines for
both men and women.
In a statement issued on Friday, François-Xavier de Monts, General Director of the label
explained "we would like to thank Jean-Paul Knott for the enthusiasm and talent with which
he renewed the luxury label with a new vision. It is essential that the House of Féraud
concentrate on a development strategy for the different ready-to-wear lines and accessories
even if we don't completely abandon the idea of a luxury line in the future".
In this context, the House and creative director, Jean-Paul Knott came to a mutual agreement
to discontinue their collaboration, which was set to expire the end of May 2003.
With this news, the Fall 2003 collection which was shown this month during the Paris
season is in effect, Jean-Paul Knott's last collection for the House of Féraud.
With the Fall 2003 collection entitled, 'Le Trop Chic', Jean-Paul Knott literally 'went over the
top', sending luxurious clothing and accessories on the runway.
The aura of the collection might have been Louis Féraud, but the silhouette was definitely
Jean-Paul Knott.
Part of this collection was stolen from the Féraud's atelier a week after it was shown to the
press and buyers. Whether this unfortunate accident was one of the reasons why the House of
Féraud decided to suspend the luxury ready-to-wear line is something we will never know.
Nevertheless, this opulent collection will not even be produced nor hit the stores this fall.
The House of Féraud will continue a strategy of international development and will open a
new flagship store in France at 398-400 rue Saint-Honoré in the 1st arrondissment of Paris
in July 2003.
