A New Director for Kenzo Homme
By Timothy Hagy
PARIS, Feb 3, 2003/ FW/ --- Ending a week of speculation in Paris fashion circles,
Kenzo Homme confirmed today that the young West Indian designer Christophe Blondin,
is to replace Roy Krejberg as Artistic Director.
Pending confirmation by the board of LVMH, parent company of Kenzo, Blondin will
leave his current post at Lanvin Homme .
Krejberg, of Danish origin, announced his resignation last November amid criticism
that during his three year tenure he had not fully embraced the style of Kenzo Tagada.
Krejberg's final collection was presented to the press during the Paris Men's show in
January, at which time news began to leak of Blondin's appointment.
The French daily Le Figaro quotes Kenzo CEO Vincent Huguenin as saying, "We have to
rediscover the fundamentals of the label, Kenzo's values and his expressive style.
It is a line of liberty, generosity and gaiety. We don't need fashion that is too
intellectual: you only need to return to the source and then put it in modern language."
Blondin, who replaced Dominique Morlotti at Lanvin, will now have a second, and arguably
more significant luxury label with which to express his creativity.
