Fuse: The Fusion of Fashion, Beauty and Style on the Runway
Educational Event to Feature Stylings of Fekkai, Sahag and Beenders Created For Spring/Summer Collections From Noteworthy Fashion Designers
NEW YORK, Mar 4, 2003/ FW/ --- The beauty and fashion industries have more in common than simply helping people
look good through the products they produce.
On Sunday, March 9 and Monday,
March 10, they'll come together for a good cause when three of the beauty
industry's top artists team up with some of the world's most innovative fashion
designers for Fuse, a fusion of fashion, beauty and style on the runway at New
York's Jacob K. Javits Convention Center.
A portion of the proceeds will benefit
Salons Against Domestic Abuse Foundation (SADAF), a new foundation created by
the National Cosmetology Association (NCA) that is designed to support awareness
building and training of cosmetologists nationwide in recognizing the signs of
abuse in clients or peers through in-salon education, posters and direct
mail.
Presented by American Salon magazine and the NCA, Fuse will feature the
expert stylings of Frederic Fekkai, John Sahag and Antoinette Beenders created
especially for the Spring/Summer collections from some of the world's hippest
designers including Alexander McQueen, Ghost, Ungaro, Catherine Malandrino,
Benjamin Cho, Geova, Gaelyn & Cianfarini and Carlos Miele.
The audience, who
will view the collections on the runway, will learn about each artist's
technique and unique insight to the collections as they discuss hair, makeup and
nail trends that stem from the designs.
Each artist will have 30 minutes for their presentation, which will begin
with video footage incorporating the work of the artist and designers.
Accompanied on stage with a demo model, the artist will demonstrate a condensed
version of the looks achieved for the collection before the runway presentation
begins. Two 90-minute shows are scheduled daily at 10:30 a.m. and 1:30 p.m. in
the Galleria.
Though co-located with the International Beauty Show for its debut, Fuse will
be an annual event during New York's Fashion Week beginning this Fall.
According
to Dana Lupton, group show director for Advanstar Communications Inc., launching
Fuse at IBS is an ideal way to alert the beauty industry to the fashion-oriented
educational event.
"With two 90-minute shows daily, we have the opportunity to reach an
estimated audience of 3,600 top salon professionals as well as exposure to more
than 50,000 IBS attendees through logo placement, show ads and more."
Open to salon professionals, tickets can be purchased for $65 or with a
one-day pass to IBS New York for $95. For tickets or for more information,
please call 800.427.2420.
