DALLAS, Aug 30, 2004/ FW/ --- While the temperature in Paris cools down for fall, the fashion scene is heating up at the City of Lights.
Chanel and Dior, two of the most venerable fashion houses in the city have two of the world’s most beautiful and talented women to represent their brands this autumn.
In a statement last Thursday, Christian Dior announced that Academy Award winning actress Charlize Theron would be the new face for J'adore, one of the company’s top selling scents and considered one of the top 5 selling perfumes in the U.S.
The global advertising campaign, which was shot by Nick Knight under John Galliano's artistic direction, will break about the same time that Chanel’s classic No.5 campaign featuring Nicole Kidman will debut.
The Chanel No. 5 campaign was produced under the direction of Baz Luhrmann, who directed Ms. Kidman in Moulin Rouge.
The upcoming fall campaigns is literally turning into star wars, as high profile celebrities like Charlize Theron and Nicole Kidman grace the pages of glossies and fill the small screens.
And that trend is not just in Europe. Here in the U.S., Sarah Jessica Parker and Lenny Kravitz headline the latest Gap campaign, “How Do You Wear It” which broke last night during the MTV Video Music Awards.
New York-based designers are also following suit, with Scarlett Johansson as the face for Calvin Klein’s Eternity Moment and Beyoncé Knowles as the inspiration for Tommy Hilfiger’s “True Star.”
