LONDON, Jun 22, 2004/ FW/ --- Beyoncé Knowles has joined the ranks of celebrities who has entered the lucrative fragrance business. Yesterday, here in London, “True Star,” the new women’s fragrance collection inspired by the global megastar was launched in an exclusive press party.
Developed under the auspices of Tommy Hilfiger Toiletries, True Star captures the spirit of Beyoncé’s appeal.
"Beyoncé is a true star. Not only is she extremely talented and beautiful, she is also sophisticated, intelligent and charming. Her career is serious, professional and on the rise," said Tommy Hilfiger, Honorary Chairman and Principal Designer of Tommy Hilfiger U.S.A., Inc., in a statement.
True Star comes in Eau de Parfum, body lotion, shower gel and fragrance satin shimmer and the scent contains contrasting florals as well as notes of toasted grains creating a softness that is both warm and familiar.
Beginning in October, the True Star collection will be available at select retail locations globally.
To support the launch, an extensive television campaign produced by Laurent Chanez will feature Beyoncé singing an exclusive rendition of "Wishing on a Star" a capella.
Famed photographer, Mario Testino, shot the national print campaign showing Beyoncé in a way she's never been seen before.
As a musical artist, Beyoncé is not alone in her foray into the fashion and beauty business. CFDA winner Sean “P.Diddy” Combs, Jennifer Lopez and Britney Spears have their own line of clothing or beauty products.
Beyoncé is also launching her own line of clothing, following the steps of Sean Combs and Jennifer Lopez.
