DALLAS, Mar 15, 2005/ FW/ --- Among the emerging designers in the Paris fashion scene, AF Vandervorst’s creativity stands out as the design duo take inspiration from the most unexpected place, the Japanese anime.
In a season where Hollywood and screen sirens took center stage, AF Vandervorst bulked the trend and highlighted one of television’s phenomenal successes, the Japanese anime cartoons that have been the fodder of youngsters for over a decade.
Slim fitting three-tone pants in black, old rose and white matched with a snug fitting jacket of the same three-tone style, it’s the super heroine of the echo boomers come alive on the catwalk.
Every tween, teen and twenty-something would lust for that outfit, as it also came in different permutations like the graphical printed knickers with a skirt worn over it and demi-Nehru collar jacket cut with solids and prints.
For daywear, AF Vandervorst opted for paneled skirts and long sleeved Ts – simple and unadorned but exemplified their mastery of tailoring techniques.
Coats are kimono inspired, worn loosely and comfortably, just like what the current generation wants.
As the Flanders Fashion Institute grads continue to impress the fashion journalists and retail buyers every season, they also continue to rise from “a name to watch” to a “must-see” during the Paris season.
