MILAN, Feb 25, 2004 / FW/ – Ferretti’s collection, anticipated (like many other familiar big calendar names) to the unofficial first day of shows here in Milan on Monday was delicate and feminine without getting trapped in that all too sickly sugar sweet girlish style.
Luxury nowadays has many a definition, and Ferretti takes vintage and makes it precious. Furs are printed for jackets and ribbons are transformed into elite detail.
Collars are sweetly rounded on overcoats and mini folds, fishtail bottoms and ruffles on knee length skirts are reserved for daywear. Nostalgic bonton is alive and energetic as the softer side of women is celebrated, they are dressed in tender transparency that is never vulgar, little tailored jackets that have ribbons tied around the waist and pants and trousers are obsolete.
Sartorial detail is the key to Ferretti’s fine wardrobe. At times slight precise cuts in outfits revealing another layer have geometrical undertones, like the beautiful jacket that is poked with fur.
Evenings are for dressing in thin slinky ribbon gowns that fall to the floor, sparkles tastefully dancing in the spotlight and shiny and matt fabrics that contrast.
This weekend Alberta will be dressing more than one of the Hollywood divas that are due to take a walk down the red carpet, and her style will stand out among the rest, modest and graceful.
