Alessandro Dell'Acqua Alessandro Dell'Acqua MILAN, Sep 30, 2005/ FW/ --- Revisiting the 1970s, Alessandro Dell'Acqua touched on the most memorable images during that decade – disco and Charlie’s Angels.

Hot pants and tube tops, the shirtdress, pencil skirts and mid-calf flowing dresses, the 1970s changed the way we dress and was precursor to the excesses of the 1980s.

Alessandro Dell'Acqua took all of them center stage yesterday, including the flowing hair courtesy of Charlie’s Angels. Bright red lipstick and eyes that can bore holes on you – again, a staple of the decade - complete the look, making the designer’s journey in time very credible and enjoyable.

Although today, most Americans see disco and Charlie’s Angels as the cheesiest icons of the 1970s, Dell'Acqua actually made the looks covetable like the sexy red dress that hugged the bodice flaring beautifully from the waist to mid-calf.

Even the tube dresses that reach just below the knee looked slinky and subtle in its sensuality. With the belt right on the waist using the ‘red lips,’ another icon from the era as buckle, it was as if Kate Jackson, Farrah Fawcett and Jaclyn Smith walked in the room during their prime.

Nostalgic as the collection might be, Dell'Acqua was also innovative, like the lacy hot pants that did not look Victorian at all, but blended very well with the collection.

The pencil skirt ruched at the hip is an example of great tailoring. Instead of making the model look hippy, it maintained a slim silhouette.

Restrained sexiness and sensuality, with a touch of innocence, Alessandro Dell'Acqua more than captured the essence of Saturday Night Fever and Charlie’s Angels.

For those unfamiliar with the lore, the three girls in the television series Charlie’s Angels are private investigators who go undercover as fashion models, hence the beautiful clothes, strappy sandals and high heels.

With a glamorous cast and perfect chemistry, Charlie’s Angels changed the way we dress, the same way Saturday Night Fever did after it was released.
