LOS ANGELES, Nov 2, 2003/ FW/ --- In her show notes, Alicia Lawhon placed the lyrics of Lionel Richie’s song “Hello,” commenting “there is so much power in the song,” that it became her inspiration for her Spring 2004 collection.
“It (the song Hello) makes me feel warm and fuzzy,” the designer told The Daily, 7th on Sixth’s official publication for Mercedes Benz Shows LA.
The collection which is entitled “Soft Hits” (a logical choice considering it was inspired by a hit song) showed the designer’s romantic side in particular, and LA’s soft and delicate side, in general.
Starting with the opening outfit of reverse tank, embellished covered button shell and cotton voile contrast stitching short, to the finale, a dotted polo, washed canvas suit with printed lining – was a statement of little details, yet highlighting the silhouettes of a woman.
Delicate details found in the cotton voile group compliment the solid structure of the canvas group.
Whether it was a sequined top or a ruffled shirt or a silk chiffon tee, it can be worn with the brushed cotton jeans or dark denim pants or pedal pushers.
Even the bikinis were soft and alluring with their floral prints and stripes. Matched with cotton voile shirts, the result was pretty and eye-catching.
Lawhon, who is a firm believer in love and magic, is convinced that “a person who is beautiful, happy and alive spreads happiness and joy wherever she goes.”
With that design philosophy, Alicia Lawhon strives to make her creations accentuate the positive and make the wearer feel beautiful inside and outside.
