NEW YORK, Sep 15, 2003/ FW/ --- Adi, Ange, K.A.I., and Gabi, better known as AS FOUR, opened the second day of New York Fashion Week with glitter and luster, literally.

Sending models after models wearing gold or silver lamé, it was a gleaming feast to say the least.

According to 7th on Sixth official program, As Four’s “embraced the light and power of the sun, spilling gold, shining bright through everything.”

They were true to their word. From the palazzo pants reminiscent of “I Dream of Jeannie” to the final piece of a “golden mummy” walking his or her dog, As Four never strayed from their inspiration.

The most memorable piece was worn by Omyrha. The revealing, body hugging catsuit in a leopard-inspired print made of gold and green, almost mimicking the U.S. Army camouflage uniform, gained applause from the audience, which included Anna Wintour who sat front row.

There was a touch of the Orient with the lotus-inspired minis and one-shouldered sarongs.

As Four even sent several men’s clothes, though one is left to wonder where any man could wear the golden top, which looked like golden leaves loosely woven together.

In fact, except for the pants, there was very few wearable clothing from the collection. Almost all the pieces fit in a fantasy or sci-fi movie.

As a Star Trek fan, I can see the sexy and alluring Orion slave girls wearing most of the clothes.

Maybe As Four are secretly sci-fi buffs. Or maybe, they are aiming to dress Natalie Portman in the upcoming final installment of Star Wars.

Nevertheless, the collection is not meant to be worn on the streets. It was very creative though, albeit repetitive.
