MILAN, Jan 15, 2004/ FW/ --- Men are from Mars and Women are from Venus. Last Tuesday at Teatro Streheler in Milan, Biagiotti Uomo and Laura Biagiotti Roma took to the stage presenting looks for autumn winter 2004 in a synergy between urban and the contemporary.
The women are masculine and strong though remain sensual, enhancing the female silhouette.
Cuts that are often 1980’s reminiscent are kept minimal for the busy city lifestyle she faces daily. He rather, is dandy and relaxed in knit and everyday style.
Men’s and women alternate down the runway, mixing and matching down, though each almost oblivious to the existence of the other.
She is accessorized but not overly in her new romanticism.
“To be normal is glamorous enough,” the press notes stated, and this is the motto she lives by --- as a fashion trendsetter not victim.
Colours are limited to the simple, but effective, black and white, eliminating patterns and print. Bold and sexy, where day and night blend into one.
Slight hints of luxury through fur collars are used for him.
1970’s influence in cuts and styling from slim padded ski jackets to turtle necks, but there is also a recurring reminder that men love sport and the casual.
Plait motifs on knitwear, ala English cricket sweater, and the functionality of “reversibles” with visible seams and stitching on pants and jackets, are all part of the informality.
He does not need to appear to be noticed as he deals with inner strength.
Biagiotti uses traditional whites and greys, but flashes of electric blue and yellow are used on black and blue, all part of her winter palette for 2004.
Maxi is never too large, but follows his shape, enhancing rather than hiding.
