MILAN, Feb 23, 2007/ FW/ --- While the Spring 2007 Blumarine collection available in stores now was all about romantic femininity, Anna Molinari’s Blumarine took a 180 degree turn and proposed a new and rigorous silhouette that emphasized tailoring and details.

Austere, even minimalist at times, this predominantly black collection interspersed with red, green and floral prints in lustrous magenta highlighted Molinari’s mastery of tailoring techniques as she created geometric shapes and silhouettes with darts, pleats, gores and godets on dresses and skirts.

Tiny waists adorned with thin belts, the hourglass figure took center stage for the Blumarine woman. Pencil skirts with kick pleats for ease of movement, dress suits with snug fitting jackets courtesy of tiny darts at the waist, shift dresses that was gathered lightly at the waist cinched with a tiny belt, the Blumarine woman is tough inside and out, but never for one moment did she lose her sensuality and femininity.

Softness was added via tiny puff sleeves, black halftone floral prints on twin sets, flowing raglan sleeves and 3-D rosettes. Elegance is the byword, as Swarovski crystals were encrusted on the necklines, making wearing jewelry redundant.

Light beading traced the lines of pleats and darts and with the use of draping and folding, volume and texture was created without adding any new elements into the mix.

As in Blugirl, the youthful line by Anna Molinari, wherein it proposed new aesthetics, the Capri-native designer also took new directions for Blumarine. The silhouette has become more structured, but the house code was left intact as the sophisticated sensuality and elegance still remained Anna Molinari’s statement for the season.
