LONDON, Feb 20, 2003/ FW/ --- When Burberry London opted for a presentation, it was a
given that they will be using mannequins. The only question was - what kind?
As it turned out, Burberry used white headless mannequins which were suspended from the
ceiling though the mannequins feet were firmly on the ground.
The reason - whoever set up the presentation did not want to use mannequin rods to
make the mannequins stable. And yes, it was more dramatic to make them look like
they are hanging.
In short, it was a good visual merchandising choice!
As for the fashion, Burberry get high points for their classic trench coats in solid colors.
They also stayed away from plaid, which designer Christopher Bailey has used sparingly since
he joined Burberry.
The result - a very sleek and focused collection. The plaid quotient might be low, but
it is still classic Burberry.
