MILAN, Jun 24, 2003 /FW/ --- To a soundtrack that spanned decades, Christopher Bailey
seamlessly synthesizes fabrics and design, reminiscent of the 1930's with stripes and
thin tailored jackets.
High collared with huge pockets or double breasted cabans, the machintosh was reinvented impeccably as the Burberry signature design, that which many have already predicted will be widely copied as the Burberry reputation and Bailey influence grows.
Precise and elegant, silhouette lightweight nylon/microfiber blend jackets, with the
large necked tanks are teamed with baggy trousers for a modern feel, relaxed and almost
pajama like as they are drwstringed at the waist.
Clinging cashmere sweaters for a trim looking man and a more narrowly cut pant for a
British Mod mood, moved down the catwalk in a range of brown, grey and ecru.
But the Prorsum summer is not only relaxed as striped shorts and bermuda are worn at ease
without socks and shiney shoes, but clean-cut, smart and stylish.
Colours moved from mauve to green to pink, hinted floral design on pants and jackets, while mixing gingham and plaids in the final phases of the show.
Cumberbun style finishes on short sleeves and pullovers and a series of lace frill shirts under the trench, tone on tone off white as the last exists. Burberry; constructed, smart and executed with British elegance in rememberance of romanticism.
