MILAN, Jun 28 2004/ FW/ --- Christopher Bailey is dandy and delightful at Burberry Prorsum as he highlights, almost literally, his love for bright colours and simple bold showy stripes in a summer 2005 menswear collection for all young aristocrats.
Daring colour is the key, but tradition is ever lasting for this English giant as check and trench ‘typically’ Burberry are re-visited for a younger fresh clientele. The Mac is light weight and handy for those bizarre English summers where umbrellas are year round accessories, while checks and stripes are confident and a definite statement as Bailey uses them for everything from bathing suits to neat thin ties and college scarves.
Screaming summer, Bailey takes a new look at stone wash denim and slight seventies cuts for pants, which are tight around the buttocks and fall wide to the floor.
He cuts and shortens jackets and pocket sizes, uses elastic in seams that crunch and crinkle the softest bombers and volume packed anti rain capes while even managing to add a touch of floral patchwork as tulips are places as motif on bright knitwear.
Accessories as always are divine, Burberry men carry metallic maxi bags and braces are often used as choice over the belt while almost the entire collection is worn with lace up white pointed shoes.
Whether dressing for a College dinner at Eton or an inner city Milan aperative, Burberry together with Bailey has snapped up summer, making simplicity simply striking.
Tomorrow night will see the world launch of the new Burberry men’s perfume ‘Brit’ and if it’s anything like the last collections, it is destined to be a hit.
