MILAN, Jan 15, 2007/ FW/ --- In a dichotomous collection that was military inspired, Christopher Bailey touched on the classic men’s look while at the same time proposing some futuristic silhouettes.
Trench coats with double lapel and high collar are oversized, and then worn over slim trousers and shirts, demonstrates a play on volume that adds to the classic opulence that is signature Burberry.
Distressed leather military jacket is the outerwear of choice for the sportive man, yet there is also the mink trench coat for those who want to keep warm.
Leather was also quilted, and lined with animal skin inside, that is of course detachable. The fur lining was also seen in the shorter trenches and jackets.
For the futuristic look, Bailey cut the trench wider at the hips yet maintained clean lines. Using gold fabric, its fluorescence was taken several notches down with the use of dull buttons, making it more formal than casual.
Chevrons and graphics were half tones, again to get that futuristic feel but without going over the top. The British gent might be hitching a ride in the galaxy, but he remembers to dress well.
