Los Angeles, Apr 16, 2001/ FWD/ --- Jackie O would have been proud that her early '60s styles
continue to influence top designers, and Monday night's Cornell Collins fall show in
downtown Los Angeles certainly followed the classic path to Camelot.
From blue to olive green to chocolate brown, Collins went the clean, simple and scarved
route, keeping hemlines in tune with fall's brisk weather.
A flowy floral dress over olive green pants brought one of the hottest and most
flattering looks to the runway.
Layering dresses with pants gives off a carefree,
I-just-threw-this-together-but-isn't-it-magnifient vibe,
while scarves around necks or draped over hair added a sexy collegiate look to it.
Almost every ensemble featured a scarf fashioned in some way or another, and many
knee-length, A-line dresses seemed innocent enough, with high necklines, but took an edgy,
current turn with lace-up black heels that Chanel and other designers deemed runway-worthy
this year.
Every piece, even the cloud-white, super-sized cousin of Nicole Kidman's Oscar dress, will
work at cocktail parties and the like.
Better yet, the timeless lines and colors will last far beyond the fall season.
Just throw in that scarf for good measure.
