LOS ANGELES, Oct 29, 2003/ FW/ --- The invitation to Cynthia Vincent’s Twelfth Street show was a cross-stitch pattern, complete with the recommended embroidery thread.
At the beginning of her show yesterday at the LA Standard, two models were actually working on the embroidery, “Though Shalt not Whine.”
And if that was not enough to peak your interest, try this: the title of the show was “Prim and Improper,” which the designer coined from “taking all that evokes prim, feminine, delicate, refined and turning it on its side on a very subtle way.”
Opening with a brown metallic tunic and following it with a brown butterfly sleeve top, yellow silk chiffon halter and scarf print skirt, Cynthia Vincent gave to her audience what she promised --- feminine and delicate clothes with an edge!
And the mantra, “Though shalt not whine” was also seen either printed or embroidered on the clothes.
Paired with trouser socks worn with stilettos or open-toed sandals, it was trendy and modern, with romanticism written all over it.
The designer also did her own take on the floral and glittery trend that were strong trends during the international fashion season.
Sparkling polka dots on transparent tops and blouses would be great while clubbing while the ultra low sweatshirts and windbreakers would look great just hanging out during those cool spring nights.
One model wearing a pink silk chiffon dolman paired with white wide leg trousers walked on the runway while talking on her Siemens SL56 cell phone, a major sponsor of Cynthia Vincent, and also Mercedes Benz Shows LA.
‘Prim and improper,’ this collection will surely be a hit with the twenty-something crowd this spring.
