LOS ANGELES, Apr 3, 2003/ FW/ --- “Mind if I take my sweater off?” A woman’s voice asks as a techno throbbing beat kicks off the start of the David Cordona Fall 2003 collection held last night at the LA Standard Hotel.

When the first model comes out in a long grey duster buttoned only at the top, her midriff showing along with the sexiest of black garter belts and long legs covered in stocking it was obvious everyone would be in for a sexy treat. In a mixture of both conventional and unconventional, Cordona’s collection of leather and fabric managed to be racy, sexy and still maintain a touch of class.

His use of straps, belts and uneven hemlines worked quite well. One extremely wearable outfit in his collection was a clean-cut black suit with a single button closure. The closure on the suit allowed a small amount of skin to show and that peeking flesh created a distinctly feminine air.

Cordona’s love of skin was readily apparent during the entire collection. Each outfit carefully selected a section of the body to bear: shoulders, stomach, legs and back and made great use of it. A shirt might show off the lines of the back by fastening thick straps across it or a skirt might flow from short to ankle length and showcase the curve of a leg.

Though the largest portion of the collection was done in brown or black leather and fabric, there were a few gold skirts and prints in the mix. The gold skirts appeared frumpy compared with their sleeker companions.

Persons wearing Cordona need not actually remove their shirts, they should, however, be prepared to do a little show and tell.
