Diesel Fall 2006: Bringing Back The Good Old Days at The Chelsea Hotel

NEW YORK, Feb 11, 2006/ FW/ --- The stage set said it all, the façade of the famous and legendary Chelsea Hotel here in New York, where famous artists, musicians and writers lived and work is the inspiration of Diesel’s Fall 2006 collection.

And by the very nature of the inspiration and of course the Diesel label itself; the collection was eclectic from tight fitting lurex pants to denim jeans and cowboy boots.

There was also a simmering of sexuality, a part of the 1960s culture; the disco era put on the spotlight with Grace Jones closing the show gyrating on the runway in a chrome studded leather vest, leather mini with a bias cut leather train.

There was also the schoolgirl in her box pleat skirt and sweater; the downtown girl in her denim shorts and blouse with jabot.

And like the Chelsea Hotel that was a meeting place of people that was so disparate in their backgrounds and dispositions, where the common thread is their art or their music, Diesel designer Wilbert Das thrived on that diversity for an infinite combination.

Putting it that way, it is also the strength of Diesel whose target market is youthful and exuberant who value their individuality.

That’s why the gold knit trousers will find its way to a young girl’s wardrobe, and the ostrich cape will be seen in clubs in many metropolitan areas.

There were ‘respectable’ looks also such as the cardigan jacket worn over a pink shirt complete with a necktie. Still, there is also the very boho look of high waist trousers held by suspenders paired with a striped shirt with ruffles on the placket.

There is also the all white rock star look, and the denim double-breasted outer coat. You name it, and the collection probably has it!
