NEW YORK, Sep 16, 2005/ FW/ --- With a live band in the beginning and fireworks at the end, Diesel mixed the glamour of the 1940s and Japanese artistry in probably one of the best produced shows of the season.
Renzo Rosso, the man behind the Diesel label set his owns trends while others follow. And for Spring / Summer 2006, he proposed positivism in outlook, which he emphasized in an interview backstage.
‘I attended a charity event last night for the victims of Hurricane Katrina, and it is very sad that so many people died in one day,” he told reporters. ‘If fashion can infuse some optimism in these grim moments, like donating to the relief fund, then we have done something positive.”
His words echoed the upbeat runway show that featured the exuberant feelings after World War II that Hollywood and its stars imparted through movies when stars like Clark Gable were ruggedly masculine and screen goddesses like Rita Hayworth and Greta Garbo are femme fatales.
Translating those looks into the youthful Diesel DNA, Renzo Rosso successfully put forward very wearable looks with intricate sartorial detailing that Diesel fans worldwide will love over and over.
Capri pants matched with Japanese print tops, dresses with belts as wide as an obi, and on an ode to the military, Renzo Rosso adapted the naval cracker jacks and used them in skirts, pants, even in a denim evening gown complete with a train!
To say that this collection is inspiring will be an understatement because it surpassed all expectations. One thing remains true; Renzo Rosso has the pulse of the youth market and knows exactly where it is going.
