PARIS, Oct 10, 2003/ FW/ --- Dirk Schönberger, who is better known for his innovative men’s line showed his womenswear collection at the Espace Pierre Cardin today in Paris. And he did not disappoint his fans!
Translating his men’s silhouette into women’s wear is hard, especially with the current trend of ‘girly girls’ looks being shown all over this season.
But, under Dirk Schönberger’s masterful execution, it looked so easy!
First were the men’s suits, which were translated into women’s pantsuits. Call it power dressing without the androgyny or masculinity attached with the word.
Dirk Schönberger generously cut the pants and followed the woman’s curve, resulting to a very feminine silhouette.
And kudos to the stylist of the show also, who was able to show the blouse, vest and coat without the models taking of anything on the runway.
The color palette is neutral, as Dirk Schönberger’s wont. Black, silver gray and white dominated the collection.
In homage to spring, the designer sent a few colorful pieces, albeit in muted tones.
Pants were low-rise and extra-long, ruche at the bottom, giving it texture. Skirts either had asymmetrical or uneven hemlines.
The most memorable pieces were the one sporting an apron-like overlay. Never has an apron looked so fashionable.
Interesting hair style also, with the models’ hair slicked back and a barrette shaped like a ‘slash’ placed right on the spot where the hair parts.
It is a very strong collection from Dirk Schönberger. Another great thing about it – almost all the pieces will go from the runway to the show room, without changing a bit.
