PARIS, Mar 4, 2004/ FW/ --- Romance was the theme of the day at Emanuel Ungaro, where young Giambattista Valli was inspired by Marie-Antoinette, Madame du Barry and Madame du Pompadour.
It was a modern take on Marie-Antoinette and her famous fashion sense with bows, ribbons and ruffles.
Her long layered gowns were translated into a mini-skirt made of ruffles. Necklines are deep, and if they go below the bustline, a lace bustier peeks through, keeping the model’s modesty, and still give a very sexy look.
Bows are everywhere – on the bodice, as designs on the clothes, even as sashes for the luxurious fur coats.
A sexy rendition of a deep V neckline, which was asymmetrically cut to end at the upper right hip, ending in a big bow that hugs the model’s hip is a sure candidate for a red carpet appearance.
Done in light blue with a lace bustier inside it will look good worn by Beyoncé Knowles or Kate Hudson.
The gowns and dresses were beautiful, while the pants and breeches are just gorgeous.
From the loose low-rise pants to the leg-hugging, tight-fitting variety, Giambattista Valli just attracted a slew of young people to try on the Emanuel Ungaro line.
With a peek-a-boo of a lace bustier and raw-edged tweed coats, the young uptown crowd from New York to Los Angeles will find this collection irresistible.
To use the new word for “cool,” this collection is dope and young Giambattista Valli is on the right track in attracting a whole new generation of Emanuel Ungaro fans.
