Pucci by Christian Lacroix: A Statement of True Design Genius

MILAN, Dec 21, 2003/ FW/ --- In a season that has implied pretty trends like floral, the 1920’s and 1950’s, there has been Pucci inspired prints used on more than one occasion from New York through to Milan.

And when it was time for the real thing, Christian Lacroix raided the Pucci chronicles and reworked them for a modern look, using Pucci’s original ideas as basis and then infusing his own style.

Lover of all things pretty and colour, this could not have been anything less than a great collection for the French designer and Florentine company, and how right it was to call in amazing hat designer Philip Treacy to do the headwork.

A spring summer 2004 collection of flared knee length skirts, satin sundresses, geometrical cut swimsuits and the expected capri pants.

Christian Lacroix gave an ethnic edge by opening with bold bright mostly monotone skirts and Pucci patterns as decoration.

In a stroke of genius, Christian Lacroix used silver embroidery on soft fabric, using Pucci prints as the design of this amazing embroidery/beadwork.

Romantic free flowing dresses equipped with scarf wings frills and fishtails make for the pretty Pucci woman, colourful and alluring.

Little fitted jackets, or double-breasted looks with and without frills were reserved for chilly summer nights as were small fitted boleros.

Emilio Pucci is a statement of its own simply due to the designs Pucci became famous for.

Christian Lacroix however used modern trends, and thus making it all the more desirable to want to walk around with the unique Pucci print that is recognizable the world over.
