MILAN, Mar 10, 2005/ FW/ --- It is refreshing to see something new on the catwalk. Many designers have such a definite theme that it takes away from what they are trying to state.
The Etro collection had a futuristic touch that was refreshing and fun. Full of colours and prints, the Etro woman will not be dull next winter.
Beginning the show with muted psychedelic prints of circles was nice. Colours of orange, yellow and brown were on circular motifs plastered on skirts and coats. These prints along with the heavy textures of velvet and wool gave the illusion of a warm fall night.
There were also some nice floral print coats and skirts that seemed like they were inspired by interior designs. A light brown patchwork dress was beautifully crafted and also inspired by interiors.
Moving on to a daring metallic point in the collection was fitting for an all night party girl. The hemlines are barely there giving way to thighs only covered by net tights.
These looks were very fashion forward and free. Sequins were also sprayed on a couple of skirts which were just as dramatic and daring.
A couple of long 70s inspired disco dresses came out in sheer chiffon in a mixture of gray and black with circular and oval prints. Suede boots in orange, black and brown along with sandal round toe heels were the shoe of choice throughout the collection.
The accessory department was full of bangles, but not much more. With a strong collection like this, accessories just get in the way. The bangles tied together some key colours and prints which expounded upon the new age psychedelic allure.
