MILAN, Jan 20. 2005/ FW/ --- Wouldn’t it be great if all men could go through a car wash and be cleaned up? Well, yesterday, my wishes were granted.
Of course Etro’s meaning of this man wash is much more philosophical which deals with the concepts of how man is shaken, beaten and caressed by life. They then compared it to the way in which garments are washed, spun, sand-treated and dried.
The Etro show was one of the liveliest shows that I have ever attended. The runway was actually set up as a car wash with full car attendant dancers, spinners and blowers. When they began to play the infamous 1970’s song “Working at the Car Wash”, the show really got jumping and on-lookers were confused and overwhelmed in the same breath.
Shows like this are definitely pick me ups for your day!!!
The Etro man is a renaissance man who likes the fusion of fabrics. This collection was comprised of wool with a rougher boucle texture matched with soft cashmere jumpers.
Patchwork blazers made these contemporary styles have an edge. Visible frayed seams and comfortable trousers gave suits a more comfortable array.
With a mixture of chic, scarves and layers were piled together to create a great warmth that match the rich colours used. Combed velvet, mélange blended with cashmere and nylon and other technical fabrics were in brown, gray and navy.
The diverse selection of models with big curly and wild hair showed that Etro is for the universal man. Vibrant oranges and red were un-muted on big leather bags.
Suede sandal strap shoes with pony hair were eye catching along with must have pony hair totes. A pony hair orange coat stole the show and says that pony hair garments and accessories are in for 2005.
Even the most unpleasant of people left the Etro show with a smile on their face as the models ran through the dryer once more for the finale. Vibrant, young, clean and fun is the definition of an Etro man.
