MILAN, Jul 2, 2005/ FW/ --- One of man's greatest accomplishments is the ability to fly. Wilbur and Orville Wright would be very pleased to see how Etro is using flight as a means of expressing progression in the fashion world today.
The concept of flying for Etro is more about man's dreams and that eternal free spirit and lightness that one has during flight. The greater awareness of self when soaring through the sky is unforgettable and that is why man seeks it out.
The show began with a replica of one of the Wright brother's early aviator machines flying across the set of the stage. Very whimsical and festive with the pilot in a summer white suit complete with a head bandanna.
The choice of colours and fabrics were so fitting for the feeling of lightness. Pastel and watercolors were used on suits and shirts. A note-able mint green suit dominated the runway along with a orange suit with matching alligator skin travel ling bag.
One can tell that the Etro man is on the move and finding his way through life. Living his life like it is golden is his theme while wearing paisley print blazers and shirts and firmly tailored suits of today.
All of the jackets are torso shaped with the trousers crotches lower and with hip-hugging waist lines.
Next season's Etro man will be much cleaner with defined lines than previous collections. An almost-Hampton sport chic was seen by showing seer sucker suits and single trousers were in sky blue and light tan.
Patchwork board shorts and floral hand bags made the collection very vacation-ey. The printed headscarves were a definite selling point for all of the outfits that they accompanied.
The shoe collection of Etro can also stand on its on with the Himalayan/bohemian cloth cover woven bottom shoes in funky sinister summer colours of green and red.
The leather toed and healed sleek trainers were lovely as well in similar hues of purple and red. The plaid sneakers off set all of the colours in the matching shorts and festive shirts. Even the dressy shoes added richer colours of burgundy and navy with a round toe point.
This collection is definitely of the imagination made into reality and a new beginning and dream for Etro.
