MILAN, Nov 22, 2004/ FW/ --- Etro is ethnic, eclectic, well traveled and decisively diverse
for Spring Summer 2005.
While Europe is clouding over, snow is falling and spring leaves have turned golden and dropped, looking back at collections like Etro shown in Milan earlier this October, sunshine still manage to linger colorfully in the mind.
While jaunting about India was one of the reoccurring themes this season in Milan, possibly
as an attempt for fashion to find itself spiritually, Etro managed to capture the right mix
of ethnicity and not get sun burnt.
Always fun and colorful, this collection takes peasant skirts, soft flowing silk kaftans,
paisley and floral and mixes it with the structure and tailoring of the west.
Little jackets sit on the hips, shorts hang just above the knee and bold vertical stripes continue down the body contouring lean feminine silhouettes.
Knocking about the seventies, the collarless vest is essential, as is embroidery along
with geometric and diamond patterning.
Tassels dangle and hemlines dance in the light breeze while wide legged trousers are switched for patterned and super colored leggings worn under baby dolls, all accompanied by wedge sandals that lace over lighthearted feet.
Desire is wearable this season at Etro in a collection that apparently seems more contained than usual for the generally over the top multi colored Maison that uses paisley for its logo.
